Camp ToknowHim is an interdenominational Christian youth camp and retreat center located near Pisgah in the mountains of northeast Alabama. It has two separate facilities to accommodate groups of 60-300+. The property around the camp abounds with miles of wooded trails, amazing rock formations and the views of the Tennessee River.  The camp was started by a Northland couple in 2000. In 2001, Northland sent a team to work on the camp, and Northland teams have been going there every year since. We are currently working on the construction of a third facility. We make a trip each Spring and Fall, and have an enjoyable time of working and fellowship. We welcome everyone: singles, couples, young and old. There is no requirement to have construction experience, we can put everyone to work on a project. Each trip is usually about a week long, from Sunday to Sunday, but can also come for as many or as few of the days as you would like. There are nice accommodations for everyone and great meals. The cost for the trip is your transportation, driving yourself, or sharing the costs in a carpool. If you can contribute to the cost of meals, that would be appreciated. The drive from Central Florida to the camp in Pisgah, AL is about 9 to 10 hours. There are also flights with Allegiant from Sanford, FL to Chattanooga, TN, which is just over an hour from the camp. The camp website is camptoknowhim.com. If interested, please contact Bud Abt at budabt36@gmail.com or (407) 415-0036.

Baptism Weekend

Baptism Weekend

Sunday, June 1, 2025 from 11:00am to 4:00pm
June 1, 2025 11:00 AM
June 1, 2025 11:00 AM
Sunday
Baptism is an outward expression of our inward faith and a declaration to the world that we've chosen to follow Jesus Christ. It signifies the washing away of the old life and helps solidify our commitment as followers of Jesus Christ. If you have never been baptized before this is your chance to take this step of obedience in Christ! If you have recommitted yourself to following Christ and desire to make a public statement of that through baptism, you are also welcome. Be sure to invite your friends and family to celebrate with you! WHY BE BAPTIZED? 1. Because you want to follow Christ's example. "At that time Jesus came from Nazareth and was baptized by John in the river" (Mark 1:9). 2. Because Christ commanded it. "Jesus said, 'Go then, to all people everywhere and make them my disciples, baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and then teach them to obey everything I have commanded you'" (Matthew 28:19-20). 3. Because it shows you are a believer. " ... many of the Corinthians who heard him believed and were baptized" (Acts 18:8). 4. Because obeying Christ's command shows you know Him. "We know that we have come to know Him, if we obey His commands" (1 John 2:3). WHAT IS THE MEANING OF BAPTISM? 1. It is a symbol of Christ's burial and resurrection. "Christ died for our sins ... he was buried ... and he rose again" (1 Corinthians. 15:3,4). "For when you were baptized, you were buried with Christ, and in baptism you were also raised with Christ" (Colossians 2:12). 2. It is a symbol of your new life as a Christian. "When someone becomes a Christian he becomes a brand new person inside. The old life has passed away and a new life has begun!" (2 Corinthians 5:17). "By our baptism then we were buried with Him and shared His death, in order that just as Christ was raised from the dead also we might live a new life!" (Romans 6:4). Baptism does not make you a believer, it shows that you already are one! Baptism does not "save" you, only your faith in Christ does that. Baptism is like a wedding ring—it's the outward symbol of the commitment you made in your heart. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and it is the gift of God not by works, so that no one can boast" (Ephesians 2:8,9). HOW ARE WE TO BE BAPTIZED? 1. Like Jesus was baptized, children, teens and adults are immersed in water. "As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water" (Matthew 3:16). 2. The word "baptize" literally means "to dip under water." The Greek word "baptizo" means "to immerse or dip under water." 3. It is the best way to picture a burial and resurrection. Who should be baptized? Every person who has made the decision to believe in Christ. "Those who believed and accepted His message were baptized" (Acts 2:41). "But when they believed Philip as he preached the Good News ... And the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women" (Acts 8:12). "Simon himself believed and was baptized ..." (Acts 8:13). The one requirement for baptism is belief in Christ! We do not baptize children until they are old enough to understand and believe. WHEN ARE WE TO BE BAPTIZED? As soon as you have believed! You shouldn't delay. "Those who believed ... were baptized ... that day!" (Acts 2:41). "Then Philip began with the Scripture and told him the Good News about Jesus. As they traveled along the road, they came to some water, and the eunuch said, 'Look here is water! Why shouldn't I be baptized right now?' Philip said, 'If you believe with all your heart, you may.' The official answered, 'I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.' Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him" (Acts 8:36-39, paraphrase). There is no reason to delay. As soon as a person decides to believe in Christ, he or she can and should be baptized. WHO WILL BAPTIZE ME? If there is someone who has made a significant impact on your Journey with Jesus, you can invite them to be a part of baptizing you. They need to have already been baptized and be following the Lord. Many people have their small group leader, ministry team leader, or friend baptize them. Several pastors and ministers from Northland regularly perform baptisms. CAN A FAMILY BE BAPTIZED TOGETHER? Yes! If each family member understands fully the meaning of baptism, and each one has personally placed his/her trust in Christ for salvation, we encourage families to be baptized at the same time. It is a wonderful expression of commitment. CAN I INVITE FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO MY BAPTISM? Absolutely! We would love to have your friends and family there to celebrate with you. WILL I HAVE TO SAY ANYTHING? Not much! At the beginning of the baptism service, the pastor will briefly explain the meaning of baptism. Following that, the pastor will introduce you by reading your name and invite you to tell a bit of your story—how you came to Northland and when you started following Christ. You will then enter the water to be baptized. The pastor will ask you one question: "Have you accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior." You only have to answer, "Yes." Then, the pastor will briefly lower you just under the water, and then you will leave the water, dry off, and watch with others. We are so happy that you desire to follow the Lord's example in baptism. There will be many others baptized with you. Many people like yourself have been baptized in pools, lakes and the ocean! WHAT DO I WEAR? Guys: A swimsuit or shorts and a shirt is just fine. Ladies: A swimsuit, shorts and a shirt (dark color) is just fine. Bottom line, wear what makes you comfortable. Bring a towel to dry off before you leave. You can use the restrooms to change in.

Be part of a mission that goes beyond borders with our Uganda Mission Trip. Known as the “Pearl of Africa,” Uganda is a land of stunning beauty, rich culture, and a vibrant Christian presence (83%), yet there are still five unreached people groups longing to hear the Gospel. Uganda has widespread prayer movements, a strong evangelical presence in the Church of Uganda (Anglican).  Public prayer is common even in government and judicial buildings, and many people attend church.  We’re partnering with Miracle Centre Kawempe Church and Miracle Destiny Schools in Kampala, where Pastor Robert and Rose Nabulere lead a dynamic ministry that blends education, discipleship, and outreach. Since 2012, Northland Church has worked alongside Pastor Robert to train over 500 pastors and leaders across the nation, and the impact continues to grow as churches are planted and communities transformed. On this trip, you’ll connect with the local church through worship gatherings, serve in their schools by offering educational training and coaching, and lead impactful Vacation Bible School sessions for children. You’ll also engage in neighborhood outreach, Bible distribution, evangelism, and other community development projects. Beyond the mission work, you’ll have the opportunity to witness the natural beauty of Uganda, including a visit to the Nile River, soaking in the wonder of God’s creation. This trip is more than just an opportunity to serve—it’s a chance to be part of God’s unfolding story in Uganda, deepening your faith while making a lasting difference. Registration deadline is March 2. Questions? Contact juliakauffman26@gmail.com

The Bible Boot Camp is a thorough, 40-week overview of the 66 books of the Bible from Genesis through Revelation. The class is conducted live-in-person in a Northland classroom and simultaneously online using Zoom. It is designed for a group of people who may be: A Christian for a short time or a long time and wants to more fully “understand the Scriptures and know the power of God”; Someone who is familiar with the great stories of the Bible, but doesn’t feel like you really know God or understand the Great Story of the Bible – “His plan from before the beginning of time”; Someone who “knows something of God from the world around you and from your own heart, and now wants to know God and find salvation” (J. I. Packer); Someone who loves the New Testament but struggles to understand how the words and ways of God in the Old Testament show that He is “filled with unfailing love” and “does not change”; Someone who wants to share “the hope that is in you,” but doesn’t feel confident in “handling the Scriptures.” In other words, the Bible Boot Camp is for all who want to know what the Bible reveals about who God is and what He has done.

Community of Men Tuesday Nights 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.  ROOM W209-W210  We are a men's group meeting on Tuesday nights from 6:30pm until 8:00pm in person on campus in room W204. Our objective is building true friendships and growing together spiritually by following Jesus.  What we're learning & discussing now: Have you had it with the pressure to be a nice guy? In this updated edition of the bestselling classic, Wild at Heart, author John Eldredge reminds men we need adventure in our lives . . . in our work, in our love, and our spiritual lives. He reveals how God designed men to be dangerous. Simply look at the dreams and desires written in the heart of every boy: to be a hero, to be a warrior, and to live a life of adventure and risk. Sadly, most men today have abandoned these dreams and desires—aided by a Christianity that feels like nothing more than pressure to be a "nice guy." It is no wonder that many men avoid church, and those who go are often passive and bored to death. So, instead of asking what you think you ought to do to become a better man, John asks us in this study, “What makes you come alive? What stirs your heart?” Join John and his band of brothers as they share stories of the deep wounds of their earlier years that took away their confidence and—in some cases—their masculinity.  https://www.studygateway.com/online-bible-studies/wild-at-heart-study-home/

Women's Bible Study - Tuesday Evening - Revelation - (Winter 2025)

Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. starting January 28, 2025.
April 29, 2025
April 29, 2025
Tuesday
Dates:  Jan 28 through May 13.   We will not meet on the following dates:  April 22.   Overview:  "Revelation shouldn't leave us fearful or confused, but its imagery and concepts often confound our modern ears. If all Scripture is God-breathed and profitable, though, we should assume Revelation is as accessible and helpful as any other book of the Bible. Study Revelation verse-by-verse to discover how the last book of the Bible-the culmination of God’s great story-speaks both a steadying word of assurance and a strong call to endure to the church in every age. "   Jen Wilkin Study Guide available in Northland Bookstore for $24.99.

Tuesday
Join us for a group study of the Psalms! We read the Scriptures together using the inductive method: (1) paying careful attention to the specific words that the inspired author has written, (2) pondering the intended meaning, and (3) sharing how we sense God is calling us to apply it today. Whether you are completely new to the Bible, or whether you grew up immersed in the Scriptures, Torchbearers is an opportunity to dig deep into God's Word in a setting that invites participation and collaboration.

BE A GODLY MAN God has created men to have incredible strength. But today’s culture has hijacked masculinity, distorting strength into passivity and abuse. In this 5-part video Bible study series, pastor Joby Martin invites men to embrace God’s definition of masculinity and to step into His calling upon their lives to wield their strength on behalf of others. God has designed men to be protectors, providers, and defenders. When men act like men, everyone flourishes. April 16: Where Have All the Good Men Gone?
