As I write this, Hurricane Irma is heading our way. Empty store shelves, Post-its scrawled with “OUT” stuck to gas pumps, shovels and bags lying on the ground by giant sandpiles, and “CANCELLED” being the most oft used word the past few days have set an unpleasant tone. I get it. In fact, having just watched what Hurricane Harvey did to Texans, most Floridians are taking no chances. Notice I said most. I just read a guy’s online post asking if anyone wanted to join him at the Jetty for a few great days of surfing.

So there you have it. People are not all wired the same.

For every expressed sentiment “we all really are more alike than we are different” there is a hint of “you are completely unique, made like no other” that comes to light in a storm. While some are frozen in fear from the moment the storm is named, others will be waxing surfboards as it comes ashore. These responses to whatever is coming our way bookend the responses of the majority who are trying to make sure they do what they can to prepare and then trust God with the rest.

Kinda reminds me of how people deal with everyday life. No matter what your wiring or circumstances are, Joel and I are praying for you!

"Blessed are those who trust in the LORD and have made the LORD their hope and confidence.” - Jeremiah 17:7 (NLT)
