Enjoy the Ride, by Becky Hunter

It’s been said that you don’t really understand life unless you know why a child on a merry-go-round will wave at her daddy every time around — and why her daddy will always wave back. Makes me think I just might understand life. No matter how many ups and downs we experience or how much time we spend just going in circles if we are supported and encouraged consistently by others, we are likely to enjoy our lives.

Your support and encouragement matters to someone. Christians sometimes think that those things come in only one valid form: prayer. That’s simply not true. Building up another person isn’t limited to prayers. A smile, or kind word, or even a consistent wave hello, can be just what they need to stay in the saddle for the whole ride. Life isn’t easy, but each of us has ways to make it more enjoyable for another.

“Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way.” Hebrews 12:2 (The Message)
