The Ride, by Becky Hunter

“See them?” our two-year-old granddaughter, Lena, asked Joel between glimpses of her dad and brother who were riding a roller coaster. The same twists and turns, the high and low places that caused her dad and brother to decide that the ride was worth standing in line for, had limited their connection with her to only a few well-timed smiles and waves. But the ride went fast, so it wasn’t long before the end of their adventure. As they burst through the exit gate, Lena was there to give them hugs and her smile was the biggest of the day!

How like life! It’s an adventure filled with highs, lows, twists and turns that we can feel in our guts. And as we speed along, we find places every now and then where it is easier to connect with the One who is always watching out for us. At the end of our adventure here, He will be waiting at the gate with open arms. If it wasn’t so, He wouldn’t have made His way to a manger.

“Can anyone hide from me? Am I not everywhere in all of heaven and earth?” – Jeremiah 23:24
